Burning shirts with senior missionaries
What's up everybody?!! This week has been a long and busy week! But it was still lots and lots of fun! On tuesday I honestly don't really remember what happened that day but all I really remember was that it was pretty long hahah! The one thing that I read out of my journal that I remember is that me and Elder Jessen made Chelsey and Austins steak fajita tacos!! Those were so so good and made whatever we did that day worth it hahah! I definetly thought I would have messed it up one way or another but surprisingly I didn't mess it up!!
On wednesday we had a district council and we got together and had a couple people teach little short lessons then we just talked about each others needs and how we can all help each other and most importantly the people that we are teaching! I could really feel the spirit and talking with my companion afterwards about it I could really tell that it was spiritually driven and that was a really cool realization. My comp is the District Leader again!! I guess I need to learn something from District Leaders or something hahah! But later that day we went over to this city about twenty minutes from Dublin and we went knocking on doors. I wasn't very excited to do this I'll be honest but that definitely changed. We came across this old lady named Ruby who had been taught by missionaries before but she said that she had a couple things that she didn't agree within the Book of Mormon. Elder Jessen pushed super hard to get her to let us meet with her another time and she agreed to meet with us on Tuesday!! Before we left he put me on the spot and said that I had a verse that I wanted to share and I had no idea that I was going to do this so I pulled out Moroni 7:26 which talks about prayer and is one of my favorite scriptures and she really liked the scripture it was really cool! The last door we knocked on was a guy named Kimball and he also talked to us for a while and seemed interested in meeting with us again but he has a super tight schedule so I'm not sure when we will meet with him but we definitely will meet with him again!
Oh boy Thursday was definitely a fun day! Elder Jessen hit his 1-year mark on his mission and so did one of the other elders by us his name is Elder Cameron. So technically it is against the mission rules to have an open fire so we couldn't really burn the shirts anywhere around where we live BUT we talked to the greatest senior missionary of all time! His name is Elder Bower! He has converted about 5 years ago to the church and he is now a missionary out here and is basically in charge of everything that happens with all the cars. But he also likes to think of all of us as his kids and loves to take care of us hahah! Basically, all the senior companionships say that. But Elder Bower knew of a place that we could burn these shirts and he wanted to celebrate with us as well! So around 6 we all went to this Japanese restaurant and some of you won't believe this but I was daring and got something I normally wouldn't get! It was way good but I don't really remember what it was called hahah! But after that, we went and burnt their shirts and then headed back to Elder Bowers apartment and played secret hitler and ate pie and ice cream with another companionship. So there were like six of us just hangin out with Elder Bower. SO much fun.
On Friday we didn't do a whole lot we had a huge mission zoom call that we talked a lot about making sure that our apartments are always kept in good shape and clean as well. We were told that we need to treat our house as if it were a temple or a church because we need to feel the spirit inside our house just as much as those other places. We went to steak and shake later in the night and that was way good and super cheap so that will probably become a favorite really fast hahah! But after we ate we knocked on some doors of people who had been taught before but not a single person answered so that was awesome sheesh.
Saturday was a crazy busy day and I loved it! I was able to help out with what is called commissary which is where all the missionaries request things that they may need for the rest of the transfer and one of the senior companions get all of those things and then what we helped with was putting all of that stuff into marked bags so that they can be handed out to all the missionaries at zone conference. It took us almost two hours to finish packing it all up and lemme tell ya it was so hot and the humidity doesn't help out with that at all. I was sweating so much hahah! Later on that day we went out to knock a couple more doors and we came across a guy named Vic. He seemed really interested and even asked to swap numbers with us before we could ask him! I am super excited to teach him and see what questions he has! We were also supposed to have a lesson with Edgar tonight but he was having a lot of pain from where he got surgery about a month ago and we weren't able to teach him. But hopefully, he is feeling better this next week.
I miss you all so much!! It was good hearing from some of you this week! I read those all throughout the week but I can only respond on Monday so I'll do my best to get back to you all!!
