Burning shirts with senior missionaries

What's up everybody?!! This week has been a long and busy week! But it was still lots and lots of fun! On tuesday I honestly don't really remember what happened that day but all I really remember was that it was pretty long hahah! The one thing that I read out of my journal that I remember is that me and Elder Jessen made Chelsey and Austins steak fajita tacos!! Those were so so good and made whatever we did that day worth it hahah! I definetly thought I would have messed it up one way or another but surprisingly I didn't mess it up!!  On wednesday we had a district council and we got together and had a couple people teach little short lessons then we just talked about each others needs and how we can all help each other and most importantly the people that we are teaching! I could really feel the spirit and talking with my companion afterwards about it I could really tell that it was spiritually driven and that was a really cool realization. My comp is the District Leader ...

First Week at the MTC!

Image
Hey everybody!! My first week here at the MTC is officially done!! It's kinda weird. I feel like a lot of things have happened while I have been here but at the same time I feel the exact opposite and feel like nothing has happened. I know right, that makes zero sense hahah.  The first three days here were crazy! We had a super packed schedule that we had no idea about until we got to the MTC. Literally right as we walked in we got told about like ten new things that weren't on our schedule and it was kinda chaotic, especially cause me and my district had no idea what half of the stuff was. But I have such a good district!!! We all get along so so well! We have one kid that didn't live in Utah and he is my companion, Elder sweeney. Me and him relate to so many things it's like lowkey kinda creepy. Like we knew a lot about each other before we got here because of home MTC and everything but when we got here we realized that we use the same shampoo and body wash even. WH...

Somebody email me, please! (first week in the OCM)

Hey everyone!! My first week in Ohio is almost over and I don't think that it could've been any more eventful! My companion's name is Elder Jessen. He is from Cedar City Utah and has been out for a year this Saturday. I am learning so much from him and he is a great teacher! We are the housing Elders for our entire mission and that keeps us very busy. We are always moving things to people around the mission whenever they ask for things. We have moved like three beds already in the first five days and moved an an entire apartment for a senior companionship. That one was fun let me tell ya hahah! Took forever though and it was about an hour and a half drive from Dublin Ohio which is the area I am serving in.  Ohio is so pretty! The number of trees that are here are insane! It is so green! On the other hand my very first lesson we were teaching this guy named Pete! Pete loves his video games let me tell ya that hahah! We went to talk to him about the plan of salvation and we ...

I'm in the Ohio!!!

Image
Hey everybody!! They're letting me send an email out tonight to my family and so this is why I'm emailing you guys right now!! Promise I'm not breaking rules hahah! My first full day in ohio was crazy!! Before I say anything I want to talk about a conversation me and my seminary teacher had. She asked me what my dream mission was and I told her that a service mission sounded kind of cool to me and I'd love to do something like that where I am just able to serve people. To my surprise me and my trainers are the housing elders of the OCM!! I'm not really going to go in depth cause all I know about it is that we take people things they need throughout the whole mission and we also still teach people. So kinda crazy that I'm almost in a way serving a service mission hahah! My comp is elder jessen and he is from cedar city. Me and him have gotten along pretty well so far and I can't wait to learn more about him and become better friends. Another plus about being ...

Hunter’s First Two Weeks!

Image
With this blog we plan to share Hunter’s experiences as a missionary for the next two years. We hope you enjoy! :)  Elder Powell was set apart as a missionary for the. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Sunday, July 25th. He then started his at home MTC experience on Monday, July 26th. He enjoyed meeting his teachers, members of his district, and especially his companion, Elder Sweeney from Nebraska. It was nice to see the light in his eyes and his excitement to learn while he was home with us.  He entered the Provo MTC on Wednesday, August 4th. That was a hard day, but we are so proud of the choice he has made to serve the Lord for the next two years. He’s so excited to get to Columbus, Ohio and serve the people there.  His first couple of days in the Provo MTC have been a whirlwind. He’s said he’s really enjoying it and the Spirit is so strong there. He and Elder Sweeney have been called to be District Leaders. He’s already been able to play basketball a few...
