Somebody email me, please! (first week in the OCM)
Hey everyone!! My first week in Ohio is almost over and I don't think that it could've been any more eventful! My companion's name is Elder Jessen. He is from Cedar City Utah and has been out for a year this Saturday. I am learning so much from him and he is a great teacher! We are the housing Elders for our entire mission and that keeps us very busy. We are always moving things to people around the mission whenever they ask for things. We have moved like three beds already in the first five days and moved an an entire apartment for a senior companionship. That one was fun let me tell ya hahah! Took forever though and it was about an hour and a half drive from Dublin Ohio which is the area I am serving in.
Ohio is so pretty! The number of trees that are here are insane! It is so green! On the other hand my very first lesson we were teaching this guy named Pete! Pete loves his video games let me tell ya that hahah! We went to talk to him about the plan of salvation and we weren't able to talk for too long because we had a member family to visit right after. So we talked to him for a little bit and then at the end, he said he didn't know if he'd be able to meet with us for a while. He had new roommates moving into his apartment with him and it was really stressing him out because he has ADHD and AS( I can't remember what that stands for but that's what I put in my journal hahah). But he also told us that he and his new roommates would possibly want to do a bible study so we will have to take him up on that! After we met with Pete we were able to meet with the Slavyns from one of our wards. They're a super cool family! They have three kids and one of them is seventeen and honestly reminds me a lot of myself when I was his age. I can't wait to get to know him and help him more!
The next day was the day we went and helped move in the senior companions in Washington court house Ohio. That was a fun time! Elder Jessen and I were stuck trying to make the washer and dryer work most of the time which we loved lemme tell ya hahah! But after we got back we had another meeting with another member from the same ward as the Slavyns. I think that he is about ninety years old and his name is Brother Ryan. I'm honestly not sure what he does but rumor has it he made some significant advancement in aviation and the guy is LOADED. His backyard is literally a PGA golf course. Like not even kidding. Then he has this massive pool and his house has like four stories it's insane. But I and Elder Jessen were able to go and eat at culvers with him and share a message with him. We talked about how important it is to have a strong foundation of faith. We read Helaman 5:12 which says that really well. It was really cool hearing what he had to say about that because of the experiences he has had throughout his whole life.
On Saturday we met with someone named Edgar! Edgar is so so cool! He is a non-member that has been being taught for a while and is really interested! Me and Elder Jessen were able to get him to come to church and he said that he loved it! We have another meeting with him on Saturday and we plan on putting him on a date for baptism! I can't wait to see how that goes.
This was a super long one this week but so much happened! I miss everyone so much and I still haven't gotten any emails from anyone what the heck?! Somebody email, please! I want to hear from you guys!! I miss you all so much and hopefully, I actually get to hear from you this week hahah! As my nephew Smelliot would say.. "See ya!"
-Elder Powell:)
